Mga Kuwentong Pagkain

Preserving Philippine culinary heritage through stories

Mama Sita’s “Mga Kwentong Pagkain” was inspired by Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes’ own passion for putting into writing her own fascinating culinary adventures and experiences. As the Foundation continues the legacy and vision of Mama Sita, the contest was launched in 2012 order to promote the preservation of Philippine culinary traditions.

Now on its third run, heart-warming, meaningful and culturally rich food stories have come from different parts of the Philippines such as students as young as 13 years old, anecdotes from homemakers and teachers, narratives from foodies and professionals, the amusing chronicles from professional cooks, hobbyists and cooking enthusiasts. A 92-year-old retired principal shared her food story, as well as accounts from a monk and a nun.
